Opening fixtures for Youths 15/16 August
The opening games of the 2015-16 season are behind us with most youth squads having played 3 or more games. You can see their respective league positions on their pages.
The u13s started their 11 a side campaign away to Spartans FC with a thrilling 5-5 draw. The u14s kicked off their season with a victory over Edinburgh City Reds and despite losing their first away game have won their last two home fixtures 2-0. Alan Aiken's U15s are preforming best of the youth squads at the moment and sit on top of the league after 4 wins. The u19s have managed to squeeze 6 games in already and have begun to settle into their rhythm with two victories in their last two outings.
Most of the youth squads are in action in the Scottish Cup this weekend. Best of luck to them all.
Duck Race 2015
A good turnout attended the Duck Race on Saturday last. The ducks were launched at 10am with the yellows securing an early advantage. The Blues were a little reluctant to leave the security of the bag. As the race developed the ducks, driven by the moderately fast current meandered down the Cuddy encouraged by an occasional helping hand when they floundered in eddys or got stuck in the weeds. The indigenous ducks didn't seem so impressed and a Mallard mother sought sanctuary of her nest and in doing so appeared to leave one of her ducklings surrounded by the coloured invaders. But the baby duck showed good resilience to escape from the plastic hoard. As the race progressed to the final stages the blues and the reds suddenly burst to life as they found a strong undertow. But it was a Yellow in 1st Place: Owner, James Clare, Blue 2nd Place Owner, Stephen Cameron and another Yellow in 3rd Place: Owner, Noe Sellar.
Thanks to the Fundraising Team helping to raise over £1000 for the club.
